Do you want to upgrade your Orbi satellite model RBR750 and RBS750 within minutes and without Ethernet cable? Its easy. You can either use your Phone or computer to update the firmware. You can also set the updates on automatic as well as manually do it via orbilogin.net. But if the orbi satellite not connecting with the router, you cant do it so first check the connection and then start follow the steps.

Updating Orbi Satellite Without Ethernet

In this section, you will find two methods of updating your Orbi network devices: via Orbi app (automatic) and via interface (manually).

1. Make sure its synced first.

Yeah, I know, obviousbut Ive had people try updating before the satellite even talks to the main router. Thats a no-go.

Plug in the satellite.

Wait. Give it a few minutes.

You want that LED ring to go blue for 10 seconds (means good connection).

If it's amber or magenta for a while, youve got a syncing issue, fix that first.

2. Login to your Orbi router.

On a phone or laptop thats connected to the Orbi WiFi:

Open browser.

Go to: orbilogin.com or 192.168.1.1

Login with your username and password (default is usually admin / passwordunless you changed it, which hopefully you did).

If you forgot the password, well its reset time. (Press the tiny pinhole button on the router for 10 seconds, reconfigure, and dont forget the creds this time.)

3. Check current firmware versions.

Once logged in:

Go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update

Youll see both your router and satellite listed there, along with firmware versions.

If the satellite version is older than the router, youre going to want to match them up.

4. Do the OTA method (Over-The-Air).

If everythings connected wirelessly and talking properly:

Hit "Check Online".

Orbi will reach out to Netgear servers and should find the latest firmware.

If it sees it, hit Update All.

Nowdont touch anything. Dont unplug. Dont walk away and kill WiFi. The whole process takes like 510 minutes. Lights will flash. Itll reboot. Maybe twice.

If that worked, coolyoure done. But if it says no updates found and you know theres a newer version (say, you checked on Netgears site or forums), move to manual.

Manual Update Method (Still Wireless)

Yep, you can even do manual updates without Ethernet. Its just slower and kind of a pain.

1. Download the Firmware File.

Go here: Netgear Support Orbi RBS750 Firmware

Download the .zip file for the satellite.

Unzip itget the .img file ready.

2. Go Back to Orbi Admin Page.

Again: http://orbilogin.com

Go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update

This time, click Manual Update tab

Youll see both the router and satellite listed again.

Click Browse next to the satellite.

Upload the .img file you downloaded.

Click Upload, wait it out. Again, lights will blink. It'll reboot. Dont interrupt it.

Stuff That Might Trip You Up

Satellite not Showing Up: Thats a sync issue. Reset the satellite and re-add it to the network using the Sync button on both devices.

Upload Fails: Make sure youre doing this on WiFi close to the router. If the signal is weak, itll time out.

Still No Update: You may need to temporarily move the satellite closer to the router like, plug it in the same room, just to get through the update. Then move it back.

Firmware Corrupted: Reset the device by just pressing and holding the RESET button on the device with a pin or pen.

Reconfiguration:

You have to connect any compute or laptop or phone with the Orbis network via SSID and follow these steps:

Open any browser and enter the URL orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com or 192.168.1.1 if you are using a computer.

If you are using your phone, then open the Orbi app.

Access the interface dashboard with the Orbi admin login credentials.

Inside, you should create a new network by entering the SSID username and password.

Then, after checking the firmware, and everything, you should finish the orbi setup.

Now, you can connect with the new Orbi network easily.
